Bangiya Itihas Samiti Kolkata ( a Register Society under existing Government Rules )was formed by some research scholars and students of various branches of Social Science and literature in 2012..They were encouraged and guided by some leading historians and teachers of language and literature. As a result a peer-reviewed Half-yearly journal, ITIKOTHA ( with ISSN.2320-3447 ) has come out.

Already 08 issues have been published with a good number of well-researched articles. Annual subscription.for ITIKOTHA is only Rs.250.00 . Another rs.50.00 is required if one opts for postal delivery. The journal can be procured from EKUSHE, a book-store in Bankim Chatterjee Street, opposite to the Sanskrit College. Any subscriber can send his/her article for publication to the Office at 8B, Baranashi Ghosh Street, Kolkata 700007 with inscribing the name, e.mail. and phone number.

The publication of ITIKOTHA is supported by the Indian Council of Historical Research( under ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India) The journal is being edited by Profs. Nirban Basu, Sanat Kr. Naskar, Suchandra Ghosh, Amit De and Dr Soumitra Sreemani. Apart from publication of ITIKOTHA the Bangiya Itihas Samiti Kolkata has also published KALIKATA KOLKATA, a felicitation volume in honour of Prof. Soumyendra Nath ( SN.) Mukherjee, a well-known authority in the social history of Kolkata in January 2015. The said volume was released by Prof Binay Bhushan Chaudhuri, Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya , Sekhar Bandopadhyay in presence of an august gathering at Darbhanga Hall of the Calcutta University on 21 January 2015. The said Kalikata Kolkata has been well-received among the academia as well as general readers. The Bangiya Itihas Samiti Kolkata also organised a day-long Seminar with the help of the Higher Education Department. Government of West Bengal and in collaboration with Scottish Church College on 7 May 2016 at the Scottish Church College to felicitate Prof.Binay Bhushan Chaudhuri, the President of the Bangiya Itihas Samity Kolkata. the Seminar was attended by Profs. Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, Suranjan Das, Himadri Banerjee, Arun Banerjee, Lipi Ghosh among others The Proceedings volume with other selected articles in honour of Prof Chaudhuri is to be released very shortly. The Bangiya Itihas Samiti Kolkata will also organise a number of Lectures by eminent persons from the academic world.

Advisory Councli

Prof Ranabir Chakraborty borty, a well-known scholar in ancient Indian history. Taught many years at the University of Calcutta and is presently engaged in the Jawaharlal Nehru University Wrote a number of well-researched books.

Prof. Barid Baran Ghosh hosh a well-known authority in different branches of Bengali literature. Taught many years at the Burdwan University and adorned the chair of the President of Bangiya Sahitys Parishad, Kolkata. Wrote a number of well-researched books.

Prof. Hossainur Rahman man, a well-known authority in the history of Hindu-Muslim relationships in Bengal. Taught many years in different Government colleges Wrote a number of books on social and political ideas of the Muslim community and also on Swami Vivekananda and others

Prof.Rajat Kanta Ray ay, a well-known authority in political history of modern India. Taught for several decades at the Presidency College and once was the Vice Chancellor of Viswa Bharati.

Prof. Anisujjaman a well-known authority in Bengali language and literature and highly respected in the both sides of Bengal. Wrote a number of well-researched books.

Prof. Sirajul Islam , a doyen in agrarian history in Bangladesh. Taught for several decades at the Dhaka University. Wrote a number of books and edited the History of Bangladesh.

Prof. Aniruddha Ray , a constant researcher in medieval Indian history.Taught for several decades at the University of Calcutta. Wrote a number of books chiefly exploring the accounts of foreigners visiting India. Once a General President of the Indian History Congress. .

Prof Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya ttacharyya, the doyen in political as well as economic history of modern India. Taught for several decades at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi . Wrote a number of books. He was also once the Vice Chancellor, Viswa Bharati, Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi and a General President of the Indian History Congress.

PProf. Binay Bhushan Chaudhuri l consists of Prof. Binay Bhushan Chaudhury, the doyen in agrarian history as well as history of tribes of India in present time. Taught four decades at the University of Calcutta and once a General President of the Indian History Congress.

Prof. Soumyendra Nath Mukherjee th Mukherjee retired as Professor of Indian History, University of Sydney, Australia Has a wide-ranging knowledge in the cultural history of India and is considered a pioneer in the history of colonial Calcutta by using innovative instruments.
